What is IP Address?

When a computer gets connected to internet it has been assigned an special address to identify it among all other computers. This address is called IP address. An example of this IP address is 202.16.56.5x which ranges 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255

There are several protocols and conventions behind this IP address which is assigned by ISP (Internet Service Provider).

A Dynamic IP refers to an available IP which is randomly assigned to a computer when gets connected to Internet.

A static IP refers to a fixed IP which is reserved for any particular computer. Whenever such computer gets connected to the internet it gets this fixed IP address.
Fixed IP/Static IP is required when some requests must have to be transferred to a particular computer. For example a CCTV camera connected to internet must have a static IP so that it can be used to receive images from it.
